Well, did your plant bloom? My mother (in NorthCentral Ohio) has a very old fashion rose bush that in early May would look identical to your picture. It starts blooming on May 16th and in a week or two is loaded with nice golf ball sized yellow fragrant blooms. I am guessing yours did or will next year bloom yellow.

I don’t think its similar since it has no vines. Wild rose? Guess I have to wait and see… I do have some climbing roses at the other side of the garden but the thorns look far less dense than this one. We just moved to this property last fall and didn’t take a look at garden until this spring. So still in the process of identifying everything.
