Notes:

This was in our yard for many years completely overwhelmed with honeysuckle. I didn’t know it existed until removing the honeysuckle last fall. It’s currently a shrub about 5 feet tall and 4-5 wide. At the moment, it has small, ball like flowers on the ends of the leaf stalks. I don’t know what they look like when they bloom since this is the first year it’s been out in the open. I’ve spent dozens of hours trying to identify this thing. I’ve only seen two others in the city so far.

Maybe a type of privet (Ligustrum), this might be border privet (ligustrum obtusifolium)? Opened flowers & fruits will be needed to confirm this suggested ID. For now check out these links images to compare with yours. If this isn’t border privet, make new post with photos of flowers & fruits. Best wishes! http://www.hort.uconn.edu/plants/detail.php?pid=254
