Notes:

This plant has sawtoothed leaves and berries that circle the stem. They are not purple like a French mulberry, but they may not be mature. The bush or shrub is currently about 30 inches high. This is its second year of growth. We believe that it was given to us by the Alabama Forestry Commission in a plant giveaway.

French Mulberry (Callicarpa americana)same as American beauty berry. Looks very similar to Jelly on a Roll! Don’t ya just love common names. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/328080/

Yep, or American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana). Fruit not mature here in South GA either where they are frequently seen growing wild, but when they are I will try making a jelly which I’ve read is quite nice. Also the leaves are known to be a good insect repellant.
