Notes:

I inherited this plant from my grandmother. It has grown very tall with one thick main stem (that has bark-like qualities at the bottom) and lots of offshoots with 8-leafed bursts on each. The leaves are shiny but not waxy, a little pointed at the tips and the offshoots are alternate on the main stem. It is growing a little out of control and I want to clip and re-plant into other containers, but I feel like I should know what it is first.

That’s a Schefflera. I think cutting back and replanting would be fine if it is growing well where it is.

Please help me!! My japanese maple has what looks like scorched leaves, half green and the other part of the leaf dry and brown. I also have another jap.-maple – ends of the leaves get all dried at the points. What is wrong with them and what should I spray them with. i have sprayed the one for what I thought might be spider mites as it gets little webs on it. But they return after a few days. Thank you for any assistance you can provide, Virginia
