Notes:
My father-in-law gave me this plant. He plucked it from underneath his snowball bush thinking it was a sapling from that bush. But, I don’t think that’s what this plant is since the leaves don’t look anything like it.

Maybe a type of avens (Geum)? According to sources some of the species growing in TN include, rough avens (G. laciniatum), white avens (G. canadense), yellow avens (G. aleppicum), etc… Check it out and see if you have a match. Link below is for aleppicum avens. If this isn’t avens, when it blooms and you still don’t know make new post with photo of flowers.
