Does anyone know what plant this is? and is it safe to eat? Wanted to make sure it wasn’t a knock off a real oregon grape? any help appreciated. Thanks

Thanks!!!! Some of our neighbors have them as part of their ornamental landscape. Mine grew in the woods randomly. I am assuming from birds.

Cleaning up my sloppy post: Can’t think of anything OTHER THAN Oregon grape. And, of course, the edibility comments apply only to the fruit.

Can’t think of anything that grows wild in the SE US that looks like it, so, it should be safe to eat – although it’s pretty sour. Supposed to make a great jelly, though. If it was on my property, I’d rip it out, because it’s an aggressive invader in this part of the country.
