I’m thinking that’s not barberry, but not sure what it is. All barberry plants that I’ve ever seen have sharp thorns that hurt like heck when you touch them. Also…these leaves look too long and slender to be barberry. I’d suggest cutting off a piece of it (keep it in water so it won’t wilt down) and take it to a local nursery that has knowledgeable people working there.
