Notes:
This is a perennial that was placed in our raised bed a couple of years and comes back with more vengeance each year. We give away as much as we can and then just give in for the rest of the summer. It gets about 50% full sun and does well in the company of the hostas it shares space with, but we are worried it will overtake the hostas. What is it?

Thanks, goplantgo. After reading up on your answer, it is certainly cockscomb. I suppose I’m just a luck one who doesn’t have to replant…it’s come back three of four years in a row now! I had no idea it was edible. Not so sure about giving it a try, though. Thanks again.

This appears to be a type of Cockscomb (Celosia). There are quite a few varieties available, with various flower colors, flower shapes, and plant sizes. Hope this helps!
