No mystery! This brings back one of my favorite memories growing up in Marietta, GA in the 60’s. We had a “Sweet Shrub” growing in the front yard next to the porch. Every spring my dad would take some blooms tie them tight in a wet handkerchief and wait. The sweet fragrance was wonderful, a nostalgic aroma that will be with me as long as I have a nose and a memory! – Carolina Allspice – but I grew up with the colloquial “Sweet-shrub”. 🙂
