Notes:
Can anyone here help me identify this plant growing in clusters in my backyard forest? This is in the Lawrenceville, GA area. Each plant appears to have a single stem growing upward, with many long skinny leaves growing on all side of its stem. The tallest of these are now over five feet tall. I’d like to know what they are before I clear them out.

the plants details are not clear enough to tell if this is a species of goldenrod (Solidago) or Canadian fleabane/maretail (Erigeron canadiensis syn. Conyza canadiensis)? Although I’m leaning toward the goldenrod, again closeups details i.e. leaves & stems are needed for a confirmed ID. For now, check out these include links for information on both genera. The first one is for maretail. Click on the images to enlarge. If you are still uncertain, please resubmit with closeup of mentioned details above.
