Notes:
We purchased a house that has this plant in an area that gets afternoon sun for about 6 hours. It is non-flowering, leaves are pointed with a red-underside. Trunk looks like its been cut a lot and is rather large – like its been here for at least 10 years. It did lose its leaves over winter but did not change colors in the fall. What is it? We are in Canton GA.

It does not flower & looking at the web on weigela the leaves are different. I misspoke when saying the under side is red – its the new shoots that are red. Definitely not Crepe Myrtle. Its sprouting profusely now and all new is red. More suggestions?
