Notes:
This is a plant in our office. The leaves are green with white spots. The plant has been unchanged for 5 years. Unexpectedly, there has grown a stem about 7′ tall, which grows approximately 1″ per day. It has touched the ceiling and seems to be willing to grow at a right angle along the ceiling.

Maybe a sepcies of Dracaena genus. This might be Japanese bamboo, Gold dust Dracaena, and Spotted Dracaena (Dracaena surculosa). When Dracaenas grow indoor they tend to have this strait upward bare trunks interval with whorl of leaves.

My guess would be bamboo, but (if I’m right) I had no idea it could wait years to shoot up like that.
