Notes:
This nice little plant grows on a shaded slope near our backyard suburban lake. It is not a vine, but I see numerous plants throughout this wooded area. Too interesting to put it in the weed category. What could it be?

Maybe a species in the Sanicula genus? Flowers are needed to confirm or rule out this suggest ID. Check out one in the group, the Southern Sanicle (S. smallii).
