I saw several of these at the Walker Museum of Art Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis. Sure were pretty!

Maybe a cultivar of black bugbane aka black cohosh (Actaea racemosa syn. Cimicifuga racemosa) or Acteae simplex. Some of the purple leaves cultivars in the A. racemosa group: ÔAtropurpureaÕ, and ÔBrunetteÕ. In the A. simplex group : ÔHillside Black BeautyÕ, ÔBlack NegligeÕ.
