Notes:
I know that this is a different kind of question but now I’m nervous. I just visited Biltmore in Asheville and saw the Common Trumpet Creeper with a trunk as big as my tree. Now I’m learning that this is an invasive plant. Should I get it off my Oak before it damages it? I thought it would be pretty growing up the side but like I said….now I’m nervous.

stone Master Identifier says:
Your vine looks like crossvine (bignonia capreolata), rather than trumpet creeper. Crossvine is a beautiful native, and I would not be concerned. Re the trumpet creeper… I permit them to climb large trees, as the hummingbirds are fans of those blooms in the tree tops. And… yes, they can be a bit aggressive… you don’t want them to be anywhere near the vegetable garden… Now… if you had asked about english ivy or wintercreeper euonymus or chinese wisteria… Ida been like get rid of the invasives…
