Its only about 30 inches tall, was here when we got the house, woody branches with pinnate leaf arrangement

Maybe a type of Forsythia shrubs? If if its is a forsythia I can’t tell sure which one is yours. You could check out these cultivars from these 3 groups and see if you have a match. -Forsythia x intermedia (border forsythia) -Forsythia suspensa (weeping form) -Forsythia viridissma (greenstem forsythia) You will more as the plant grows and if it blooms by next spring.
