    Looks like rattlesnake weed (Stachys floridana) The tubers are edible, I’ve found references in old texts to the plant being offered from suppliers as a vegetable… Here’s a bit of info on edibility: http://www.eattheweeds.com/florida-betony-150-a-pound/ If you aren’t interested in adding variety to your diet… killing this aggressive plant isn’t going to be easy. When I’ve read the gov’t websites about using herbicides, they talk about percentages killed… The herbicides clearly don’t work. Personally, I’ve found that throwing a sheet of visqueen over the patch, followed by an old wall to wall carpet… works very well. If need be, you can toss some mulch over the carpet… and then arrange your container garden on top of the mulch… Rattlesnake weed is usually 100% killed after a year or so…
