We grew this plant. We thought it was an Emperor Eggplant, but it looks nothing like an eggplant. Help!!!

This might be some type of smartweeds (Persicaria). There are about 150 species in this genus. Sorry, I can’t tell which one this is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persicaria
