Neighbors gave us the seeds for these. The seeds were black. They said they had been in his mothers freezer for 17 years. The pods are green with a purplish tint. Young beans look kind of like black eyed peas. A little later they turn dark purple!! What the heck are they and are they good to eat?

Trail of Tears beans are tasty heirlooms. It’s said that the Cherokees brought them to Indian Territory from Georgia on the Trail of Tears, hence the name.
