Tomatoes – For High Heat

Q: Is there a tomato that tolerates high summer heat better than others?

A: It’s true that some of the newer hybrids stop producing (probably due to lack of pollination) at temps above 90 degrees.

Cindy Martin at The Tasteful Garden in Alabama says “Unfortunately, I only know of one tomato that is a “high heat” setting tomato that is an “heirloom” and that is ‘Sioux’. There are a few hybrids such as ‘Solar Fire’ that were developed for Florida Growers that seem to do well.
