Notes:

Seemingly overnight, about 20 of these little weeds popped up in our front lawn. We have Bermuda there. We have had them before, and I just try to pull them when I see them, but I’m wondering what they are and what causes them. Sometimes they pull easily, and sometimes they break. Any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

    Not a weed.
Looks like persimmon tree to me.

These are shoots emerging from a tree root. There were probably some trees cleared from the area in the past and the roots were left intact underground. Hardwoods store a lot of energy in their roots and will continue to try to grow for years. Pull, mow or spray them with 24d, they will give up eventually.
