Grows in my backyard in Chicago, IL. The property is a city lot. I have watched this plant re-sprout for three consecutive years, and have never seen it flower. It does not spread rhizominously, but does enjoy moderate recruitment success to other areas of my backyard. The plant is 2.5-3′ tall and about 1′ wide. There is no noticeable scent to the leaves, and the one noticeable insect association is a type of weavil that enjoys the leaves (the swirl patterns it leaves can be seen on the leafs).
