Cherry Leaf Spot

Q: All of the flowering cherry trees in our neighborhood seem to be suffering from cherry leaf spot. They have lost most of their leaves.We have a weeping cherry tree we planted in remembrance of a personal loss and it’s affected too. How do we combat this? 

A: This disease is tough to stop but it can be done ‘if’ you are willing to spray fungicide religiously next spring and ‘if’ you’re willing to regularly rake and destroy leaves in the fall. I don’t have the space to cover all the details here but I have assembled the specifics at bit.ly/GAleafspot
