Found this in the woods behind my house. Approx. 4 ft. tall. Would love to have a few of these nearer the house.

    I concur. You have a nice specimen of mahonia. Beware of the leaf litter those things will tear you up, and they do not wilt softly. Great statement pieces if you are inclined to transplant to any location. Beautiful and evergreen all year, hella some hard points on the leaf tips. Beware of the leaf litter !!! Even if you wear gloves the leaves do not wilt softly! So you can bypass the gloves and just use a rake. You’re welcome! I use to work with them and I wish someone had warnede

    I agree, this looks like leatherleaf mahonia, a non-native invasive. This last I researched this plant, I found an article that said it is illegal to plant, transplant, or transport in Georgia USA.
