Notes:
Plant has colorful plume in fall. Looks like broom sedge but only has one stalk about the size of a pencil. Growing in same area as broom sedge.

It’s hard to tell for without its other details i.e. closeups of ligule, sheath, blade, etc…I could only speculate here. Maybe another species in the same genus of broomsedge (Andropogon)? Perhaps the bushybluestem (A. glomeratus)? Copy & paste the included link below and see if you have a match. If this isn’t bushy bluestem, please resubmit with photos of details were mentioned above.
