Notes:
this plant is growing in my front yard, under a Japanese Maple and a Rose of Sharon — the stems are very long –maybe the plant trying to reach past the shade of the tree and bush to get some sunlight — so in this photo I am holding the plant up as the stems are so long, the plants have flopped over. I want to move it out from under the tree but was hoping to id it first so that I can re-plant it in the best conditions (sun, shade)

If I were naming this plant I would have to use the word “bladder”. Did you take any pictures of the flowers? Try “Silene vulgaris” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silene_vulgaris If so you can eat it. Common name: bladder campion Your plant must have already lost its petals.
