This is growing in one of my mother in laws gardens. When I spotted it, it was instant love! I asked her what it was , she said she had no clue. She didn’t plant it , it just appeared. She figures a bird must have dropped a seed. I’d say the entire plant is less than a foot tall and about a foot wide. (Give or take a little).

Thank you , thank you , THANK YOU!!!! I will definitely look for the seeds. She brought me a tiny piece of it and I have it in a small glass vase with water . Now just hoping the roots will grow a bit before I plant it. Thanks again!!!!!!

California poppy. If you are lucky, it will be a perennial for you. Sometimes they self-sow… Maybe you’ll get lucky with an expanding patch… Otherwise… Purchase seed and sow in the autumn.
