Notes:
This plant appeared in my yard several years ago and is slowly getting larger in circumference. I think that it is ginger of some type. The little brown things (flowers?) in the center have now become new leaves since the picture was taken a week ago. Is it ginger and can it be divided?

You are right about wild ginger (Asarum ). Regrettably I’m not certain which species is yours. Check out one the group, the Appalachian Little brown Jug ( Asarum arifolium var. ruthii synonyms Hexastylis ruthii.) Best wishes!
