Notes:
I got off the beaten path one morning in early May, went through thick forest, very little sunlight and was attracted by a 12 by 12 or so bit of ground cover, almost glowing in the darken forest. My first thought was dogwood seedlings, but every one was uniform with only two leaves. Lots of pine and thickly foliage hardwood around about half way up a pretty good incline. Haven”t been back lately, lots of ticks and other itch fellow off the paths this year. Had to use flash to take picture

Thanks stone! Seems to be way to far south but every thing else matches. Going to take a hike and see if I can find it again. Should have berries on it about now if it is bunch berry.

Y’all seem pretty far south for bunchberry, but… there is a dogwood that grows like a perennial. http://www.habitas.org.uk/gardenflora/cornus_canadensis.htm Apparently bunch berry grows down to 7b, so… Yeah, congrats on a neat plant.
