Hi there: This plant has started growing about a month ago and has reached about a foot and a half in this short period of time. I was wondering what plant is this? Also how tall does it get? Does it have flowers? Someone said it may be poisonous because of the “leopard” stem…Is that true? Thanks!

I found it on the poison garden website… http://www.thepoisongarden.co.uk/atoz/dracunculus_vulgaris.htm They’re too pretty to eat anyway. There’s not many edible arums… The ones that can be consumed… Require a bit of work…. http://www.eattheweeds.com/peltandra-virginica-starch-storer-2/

That is Dracunculus vulgaris. I have photos of the flowerheads at http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/photos-dracunculus-974.htm . They’re quite spectacular but because they are pollinated by flies they smell very unpleasant and you don’t want to locate this plant anywhere near where you may have open windows.
