Stone is right! Once my daughter sent the base of the plants that showed the leaves, it became more obvious. Definitely a palmetto in south Louisiana. Thanks, everyone!

Not a yucca. I recognized the bloom stalk when you first posted it, but until you included the leaves…. The name stayed stuck on the edge of my brain…. Compare with palmetto. Definitely a keeper.
