These plants starting coming up at my kids’ school after we tilled the soil and added some fertilizer. We are curious to know if they are weeds or some sort of lettuce variety?

I’d have to say turnips. Doesn’t look like enough curl for mustard. I remember turnips coming back year after year. Anything left long enough to bloom puts out enough seeds to spread them all over
