i -was given this plant and told it was a bad hair day or scardy cat plant the ones i have seen are twisted and curled this one is straight no. twist or curls. What is it

This might be a type of rushes (Juncus). Sorry, I do not know which species or cultivar this is. Your description ‘twisted and curled’ seems to describe the corkscrew rush (J. effusus ‘Spiralis’).
