Notes:
Small shrub like bush with woody branches and fibrous roots, comes up yearly, never flowers and no seed pods that I remember. I’m not sure if it is a weed…

Without flowers to narrow down its ID, I’m guessing maybe some type of lilac (Syringa) perhaps common lilac (Syringa vulgaris)? Link below with varieties leaves images.
