It’s hard to tell with out flowers. Let these grow a bit more and give us an update. Also perhaps your friend can give flowers’ description of these plants. For now I’m taking a wild guess for 1 & 2. 1- The leaves’ details are not clear enough to be certain, this might be a cultivar of Edgeworthia chrysantha (paperbush)(?) 2- Maybe a type of shrub honeysuckle (?).
