Notes:
These 4 plants popped up in my garden, after growing for a few months with no water. Now I water them but I have no idea what they could be. Kind of resembles cauliflower almost, but I never have seen any this tall and thin. Please help! I want to make sure I’m not just watering a weed . Thank you

Yes, a Mustard. Maybe Brassica nigra. http://www.calflora.org/cgi-bin/species_query.cgi?where-calrecnum=1144

Definitely in the same family as cauliflower, but I think that you have wild mustard there. If it starts to take over or gets too big, you can just cook the leaves and eat them. Prepare as you would collards or turnip greens. The flowers are also edible if you like a little added color to your salad.

They look kind of like collards to me. My in laws have thrown collards into the compost pile and had plants like this grow out. They don’t eat broccoli so I doubt it would be that. Look at this link below (scroll down about three pictures) http://thekarmickitchen.blogspot.com/2012/04/garden-hopes-and-dreams-2012.html
