Spring. Rose like compound leaves with many closely packed spines. Spines on pods are soft. Are these fruits or seed pods?

Don’t know if they’re available where you are but that looks very like a plant native to my part of the world: Acaena novae-zelandiae ( http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/photo-acaena-novae-zelandiae-8671.htm ) or perhaps one of its close relatives in the genus Acaena ( http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/photos-acaena-459.htm ), which is indeed part of the rose family.
