Notes:
I planted these mums in the fall of 2015. In 2016, they both bloomed nicely except that the one labeled mum1 spread in the center. I used some twine to hold it together. This year, the spreading from mum1 started very soon, way prior to budding. And now that they’re flowering, even mum2 is starting to spread. What do I need to do? Are they not planted deep enough? Thanks for your help.

I’m no expert with these hardy mums. But according to sources to keep these stay compact, dividing them every 2 years & pinching them back in late spring until the first week of July. perhaps the included link could help you further.
