Hi, I live in North Carolina by Charlotte and I just moved into my house where it was meticulously gardened by the previous owner. I had 3 of these pictured plants show up in the mulch bed where everything is carefully planned. Everything I read is that this is likely poision sumac, but I am just shocked that this would exist in a planned bed. The close-up photo was taken when plant was young ~early April. Wider photo was taken May 2.

Maybe one of the cultivars in the false spirea (Astilbe) genus. Check it out and see if you find a match. When thes bloom you will know mor, if it isn’t Astilbe, make new post with photo of flowers.
