Notes:
Gets full shade, but has become long stemmed and “gawky”. How should I prune it and when? I like it where it is, but I would like for it to be in controll and full. Thanks.

Looks like fatsia. Prune in early spring, or whenever you want. It has flowers and fruit, and a spring prunning will remove those blooms… But It’s fairly bullet-proof.
