Notes:

Non-flowering, husband cut down from overgrowth and decided the trunk would make a good walking stick. Now, he’s wondering the tree type to etch in the design to complete his work.

    It’s hard to tell more without other keys to help narrow down further. Can you give us more photos? I”m wondering if it’s a type of wild cherry? possible choke cherry (Prunus virginiana)? One of the diagnostic key is young twig & leaves when crushed have an almond smell. Again I’m only speculating. Copy & paste the included below for choke cherry information. Best wishes!
