first off I’m sorry the full length shot of the plant is blurry… I live in the UAE and i found this little guy on a tree behind my house. It seems to have made its home in a fork between two branches and appears to be very firmly adherent… did not see any evidence of roots or soil. The overall color is purple/maroonish… not really sure but the close up appears to be what I think is the flower.. its about 13″ in height… my parents don’t know what it is either…

Do you know what kind of tree this is? Also not able to see more of this strange growth to help narrow down other possibilities. I’m not an experts on trees and could only guess wildly for now. It might not be a parasitic plant, maybe the tree is developing a malformed growth, perhaps due to numerous factors, pest, diseases? Again I’m only speculating here.
