These plants are growing among some weeds on the lawn near a tree stump. What are they? Thanks.

Laura, we did not know the type of tree that it was, but had to have it removed because it was leaning towards our home and driveway. In looking at images of your suggestions, it has been determined that it was a Sweet Gum Tree. I clearly remember the spiky seed pods. That is exciting that it’s trying to grow back! Hopefully this time it will grow upright. Thank you!

Maybe they are new growth from the remaining roots of the tree after it had been cut. These are called suckers. I can’t see the leaves clearly to be certain, but they look like either some type of maple or sweet gum (?).
