I spotted this growing wild on a freeway service drive. I might want to “rescue” some if I can learn more about it…

    I can’t see the flowers involucre (green phyllaries) clearly and without its height, it’s hard to tell. I’m wondering if this could be something in the Helianthus genus? Maybe the Jerusalem artichoke (H. tuberosus)? Check out the included link below for diagnostic keys of H. tuberosus. Click on images to enlarge. If this isn’t a match. Please resubmit with closeup of the involucre. Also tell us the plant’s height. Thank you and best wishes!
