Notes:
History of when the flower showed up on my property in Jefferson GA – first appeared approx 4yrs ago, came up beside the wheels of a horse trailer that has been sitting for approx 6yrs. The stalks grow from a flat plant, and each stalk has numerous buds that open mid-morning and close in the afternoon.

laura735 Master Identifier says:
Maybe a species in the mullein genus (Verbascum), and this might be the moth mullein (V. blattaria)? Check it out and see if you have a match. Best wishes! https://gobotany.newenglandwild.org/species/verbascum/blattaria/
