Notes:

I’m new to the website and a novice gardener. I live in Buffalo, NY. This showed up in one of my beds this spring. The rabbits seem to like it. What is it? 5 petal flowers just started blooming the last few days – June 8 – 10th. The flowers are a little less than 1 inch in diameter, leaves are 2 to 3 inches long. The flowers are pretty, the rest of it looks like a weed.

I agree with the Dianthus identification. Definitely a flower, at least to me. Anything is a weed if you don’t want it there…

Could be one of the many varieties of Dianthus.
