Notes:
This tree smells fairly putrid; is there a way to treat it to neutralize the smell but not kill the beautiful tree? Please help me determine what type of tree this is so that I can do some research on the issue.

MrsB Green Thumb says:
It looks for all the world like a flowering pear – I don’t think it’s a Bradford (they are more “pear shaped). But I have seen some that are more open. The bark and leaf look like a pear. http://www.flowerspictures.org/flower-pictures/pear-blossom/pear-tree-blossom.html If it stinks, it’s a pear. Cut down and plant a pretty dogwood or crabapple.
