Tallest tree near Evergreens, at least 40′. Single cone, needles 1.5″ long. Long time, local gardeners don’t know what this is. The branches are sparse and start at about 8 feet from the ground.

    Please resubmit photo of the tree, and closeups of both male & female cones. To my eyes the leaves & cones in the third photo appear to be the male cones (?) of the Cunninghamia genus, possible C. lanceolata perhaps? Closeups of its cones would help to confirm or rule out this suggested ID. For now, check out the included link for the C. lanceolata, click on the images to enlarge. If this isn’t a match.
